Martirio is a series of digital prints on watercolor paper generated exclusively with imagery from internet search engine results. The work, with interventions in guache and ink and framed in antique or found frames, focuses on traditional trades suffering due to technological evolution and the breakdown of intergenerational communication as a result of contemporary forms of information gathering. The palm leaf, employed a as a symbol of the martyr in Christianity, is repeated in a number of the prints. Installed salon-style amongst hand-sewn palm leaves crafted from reclaimed quilts and iron armatures Martirio is both a reflection and a call for the preservation of fading traditions.
